4th session: After the rain

March 29, 2009:
Today we adapted to the weather and followed puddles and any other wet places while walking through El Born, trying to find reflections, rain drops and wet structures that are left after the rain. Among other things we found trees, facades of houses and interesting structures in the water.
Sometimes it's nice to see the world upside-down, even in the rain.

3rd session: Urban nature

March 22, 2009:
The topic of todays excursion through the city was "urban nature". We tried to find life in the asphalt, hidden in the corners of the streets. So much life out there!

2nd session: Colours and the beauty of trash

March 8, 2009:
Today we talked about colours. Colours provoke emotions and influence your mood. There are the so called first ordered colours - colours that are not created through mixing any other colours: yellow, blue and red
- and the second ordered colours, for example orange, violet or green. We had a look at the complementary colours on the colour wheel; when complementary colours appear together, the intensity increases, which is called the simultaneous contrast (e.g. red/green).
Furthermore, the intensity of light also effects our colour perception. At low levels, blue and green objects appear brighter than red ones when compared to their relative brightness in stronger light (Purkine shift effect).
Here are the results of our trip through the city, searching for the beauty of trash and colours in general:

1st session: Black/White shots in BCN

March 1, 2009
We started the course with learning something about the history of photography and getting inspired by several black/white photographers, e.g. Man Ray, Henri-Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams and Fransesc Català-Roca.
Afterwards we explored the area close to the Gracia Arts Project gallery and found very intersting first shots.
